Homestead Seed Starting & Community Dreaming π©βπΎπ¨βπΎπ±π±
Slow Living Vlog πΊπ»
Today's video is a bit of a catch-up after a week-long break due to battling the flu. Yep, even homesteaders like me have to deal with the occasional setback. But I'm on the mend, albeit at that frustrating stage where I'm too well to stay in bed but not well enough to tackle my usual tasks head-on.
So, with the weather being gloomy and my energy levels still recovering, I'm staying indoors for another video. Today's agenda? Starting my seeds. It's about time I got my hands dirty, albeit metaphorically, and kick-started the gardening season.
But before we dive into the seed starting, let's reflect a bit. The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of bureaucratic tasks and settling into my new home in Bulgaria. It's easy to fall into the trap of rushing through life, but this flu episode was a gentle nudge from the universe to slow down and take stock.
One silver lining was receiving a generous gift of seeds from a friend. These seeds symbolize not just the promise of a bountiful garden but also the spirit of community that I'm striving to foster here on the homestead. I dream of creating an eco-friendly community where like-minded individuals can live sustainably and support each other through thick and thin.
But back to the seeds! I've gathered an assortment of containers, from yogurt tubs to cardboard boxes, to kickstart the garden. Each container has been repurposed. We should always make the most of what we have. And let's not forget the makeshift greenhouse I'm fashioning out of an old duvet bag β a testament to resourcefulness.
As I carefully label each type of seed, I'm struck by the potential they hold. From carrots to cucumbers, these tiny seeds represent the cycle of life and the hope of a fruitful harvest. And while I may be a novice gardener, I'm excited to embark on this journey of growth and learning.
But beyond the thrill of watching plants sprout, there's a deeper purpose driving this endeavour. By growing my own food, I'm reclaiming a sense of self-sufficiency and connection to the land. It's a small step towards resilience in an uncertain world, where community and sustainability are more important than ever.
So, as I water the newly planted seeds, I invite you to join me on this journey of slow living and intentional living. Whether you're an experienced gardener or a curious beginner, there's something magical about nurturing life from seed to harvest.
And if you're intrigued by the idea of joining our budding eco-community here in Bulgaria, reach out! Together, we can cultivate not just gardens but a thriving community rooted in sustainability and solidarity.
As always, thank you for your support and encouragement. Your likes, shares, and comments mean the world to me, and they're helping this little channel grow one seed at a time. Until next time, blessed be!
