Spring Gardening, Work Reflections & Foraging Adventures πΊπΌπ·
Springtime Blessings in Bulgaria!
With Easter around the corner, I hope you're all enjoying the season's blessings. Here in Bulgaria, we're gearing up for Orthodox Easter next week, and let me tell you, the weather has been absolutely glorious. Spring has sprung right on cue with the equinox, bringing with it vibrant energy and abundant growth.
In this video, I'll be sharing updates on various aspects of my homestead life, from the joys of spring gardening to reflections on transitioning back to part-time work after years of freelancing. So grab a cup of tea and let's dive in!
We've experienced a significant temperature jump, with highs reaching into the mid-twenties and even beyond 30 degrees Celsius in April! The sudden transition from grey, murky days to warm sunshine has been invigorating, though admittedly a bit challenging to adjust to.
Speaking of adjustments, I've spent the past week immersed in full-time training for my new job. As someone who's been self-employed for over 15 years, the transition back to a structured work schedule has been a reminder of the pitfalls of traditional employment. While the training itself has been engaging, it's reinforced my appreciation for the freedom and flexibility of freelance work.
Nevertheless, I'm committed to making this transition work for the greater good of my homestead. A steady income stream will enable me to invest in essential resources for the upcoming summer season, from crops to tools, ensuring that my homestead flourishes.
On the gardening front, I'm delighted to see the first seedlings poking through the soil. Radishes and aubergines are leading the charge, promising a bountiful harvest ahead. With the weather cooperating, I've moved all the seedlings outdoors, though diligent watering is now a priority to combat dehydration.
And let's not forget foraging adventures! Today, I've harvested ingredients for a fresh salad straight from my garden, including dandelions, nettles, and a local Bulgarian herb. It's a simple yet flavorful meal that highlights the abundance of nature right at my doorstep.
As I enjoy my homemade salad, I reflect on the joys and challenges of homestead living. From mending fences to planning outdoor showers, every task brings me closer to realizing my vision of a sustainable, off-grid lifestyle. And with the prospect of welcoming like-minded individuals to join me on this journey, the future is looking brighter than ever.
But for now, it's time to unwind with my furry companions and enjoy some quality time outdoors. From gardening to playtime with the dogs, every moment reminds me of the simple pleasures of homestead life.
I want to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for your continued support. Your likes, shares, and subscriptions mean the world to me, and they help keep this channel thriving. Together, we're building a community rooted in sustainability, self-sufficiency, and shared experiences.
So as we embrace the spirit of Easter and the promise of new beginnings, I wish you all a wonderful holiday filled with joy, peace, and abundance. Until next time, stay blessed, stay inspired, and keep living your homestead dreams. Thank you for watching!
